Security Licensing
The Private Security Services Act 2004 and the subsequent formation of the Private Security Authority (PSA) paved the way for the regulation of the Security Industry in Ireland.
The opening date for applications for a PSA licence was October 3rd 2005. Aran Security was amongst the first companies to apply. And because we satisfied the PSA's criteria and made an early submission, we were delighted to be awarded a very memorable licence number - PSA licence number 00001 - on March 30th 2006.
Operating without a licence from April 1st 2006 will be a criminal offence and both the Security Company providing the service - as well as their Client Companies - will be open to prosecution.
In the manned guarding sector of the Security Industry, the next step in the licensing process is April 1st 2007, when all Security Officers will themselves need to to be licensed. Vetting and training (to Fetac Level 4) is a large part of this process and Aran is confident that its staff will also be successful, particularly as we have our own in-house Trainer certified by the Security Institute of Ireland.
Aran fully supports the introduction of regulation and standards to the Security industry and believes that licensing will result in improved standards for Employers, Employees as well as for our Clients. We expect to see some very positive changes in our Industry over the next twelve months.
